A healthier you, one day at a time

Growing up neither of us probably thought we would be here. We were not very athletic and we loved baking cookies with grandma and eating McDonalds. But now, years later, here we are, Athletic Trainer (ATC) and Registered Dietitian (RD).

Tamara

I am a registered dietitian currently living in small town Iowa. I see farms everyday on my drive to work and can get some of the most amazing produce from local farmers markets. I have had the chance to have eggs from a friends chickens for breakfast and get sweet corn from a coworkers farm. On the other hand I have also seen some of the not so healthy foods that are popular in this area.

I have been a dietitian since June of 2012. I spent 10 months in Houston doing my internship and have worked in hospitals with clinic nutrition and outpatient nutrition. I love the look on someones face when they start to realize how they can make small changes and become so much healthier. I love helping them get to the point where they feel amazing about how they feel and look because of the amazing food they have added to their diet.

Christa

I am a licensed athletic trainer currently living in Michigan and working on getting my masters in athletic training. I love helping injured athletes get back to working out and playing their sports after sustaining an injury. I have had the opportunity of doing an internship with the Rockford Icehogs, an AHL team, and that was one of the greatest and most rewarding experiences of my life. I currently work in a high school as the head athletic trainer and love working with younger athletes.

I have been licensed in Michigan since July of 2014. I am on my last year of graduate school and will graduate in June 2016. I love the feeling after working out that I get. I also love encouraging my athletes to work out and stay in shape in their off-seasons. I have been privileged to see my athletes go through a rehab program with me and reutrn back  to their sport both mentally and physically ready because of what I have done with them. On the side I am preparing to take the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioing exam in the beginning of 2016 and hope to use that to train people in my free time when I am not working as an athletic trainer.

As sisters, we have been best  friends and each others biggest critic. As we have both been developing in our careers we have started sharing ideas constantly. We love sending pictures and recipes to each other and sharing workouts we love.

I can vividly remember the day before my wedding, Christa made me do leg day...let's just say I was feeling pretty awesome (and sore) for my rehearsal dinner and wedding.

I will never get together with my sister and not have something healthy to eat or a healthier version of something that is normally not healthy at all.

Now we want to be able to share with you all the fun things we share with each other. You can follow our Pinterest pages aand follow us on Twitter to see what we are up to outside of this amazing blog. Make us your favoirte RD/ATC duo.
